On December 12, 2020 I photographed Taylor & Austin's wedding at Hidden Spring Farm in LaFollette, TN. In case you've been living under a rock, 2020 has been a wild year! Taylor's original photographer pulled out of the wedding two weeks prior because of Covid exposure. Luckily, I had the date available and was so happy to step in!
Although it was a rainy day, it was still the most gorgeous wedding! Plus, they say rain is good luck on your wedding day. Taylor was the most chill bride and nothing seemed to bother her, not the weather and not the fact it was actually a month after her original wedding date.
Yes, that's right. Their wedding was supposed to take place back in November, but the groom tested positive for Covid and they had to postpone last minute. Like I said, WILD times we are living in!
I wore a mask the entire 8 hours to photograph the wedding and tried to practice social distancing as much as possible. Thank goodness for my zoom lens!
Some of my favorite moments of the day were the bride's first look with her dad, the mother daughter dance (so unique!), and the cake cutting!
The wedding was beautiful, and I am so glad I was able to capture Taylor & Austin's special day. It was raining really hard after the ceremony so we had to do all couple's portraits inside, but I still love how they turned out! Scroll down below to see some of my favorites from the day!
Currently I live in Knoxville, TN but for those of you who may not know, I am originally from a small town on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line named Jellico. I only lived there until I was ten, but my ties remain strong. (Several of my family members still lives there.) I love, love, love that so many from my hometown still choose me to photograph them and travel all the way to Knoxville to see me, like Deana who I recently photographed for her maternity session.
Deana chose to do a boudoir maternity session and then a regular one with her family as well. For the family session she wore one of my maternity gowns I keep in my client closet that is available to rent. We took the family and gown maternity photos at Melton Lake Park in Oak Ridge, TN.
Check out some of my favorite images from her session below.
Every year the sunflower fields bloom at the Forks of the River WMA in Knoxville, TN and make for a gorgeous photo opp location. I love taking client photos at the sunflower fields! This year I thought was an off year for the sunflowers because the fields need to rest. Little did I know there is an entire other sunflower field at the Forks of the River WMA . . . only I had to hike about 1.5 miles to get there! And MAN was it humid outside. I was so afraid I was going to be late for this session, and we would lose the light! Luckily, we arrived just on time and got some beautiful shots! Becky just moved to Knoxville about two months ago, and I am so glad she did because she and her son were the most amazing models I could hope for. My friend Nicole contacted me and asked if I would take her sister, Jessica's, senior/graduation photos. Of course, I agreed, and we decided to meet on campus for the photo session. With the quarantine finally coming to an end there were a ton of UT seniors out having their photos made. I did not attend the University of Tennessee, but I am from Knoxville so I am a huge Vols fan. Still, I am not super familiar with the campus so it was cool to be able to walk around and get a feel of what the students experience. UT really does have such a beautiful and historic campus.
Jessica is graduating this spring and hopes to pursue some sort of career in forensics. For the past few years she has worked in labs at UT and interned at the Body Farm. She is gorgeous, as you will see from the photos, and even more impressive, she is graduating with honors. Scroll to see some of my favorites from her senior session.
I want to give a glimpse into a typical branding photography session with Tara B Photography. Glenneth booked her session with me months ago, and we decided for her brand it would be best to take her photos downtown Knoxville, TN where we live. Her branding colors are bright, giving off the same positive and happy energy Glenneth has herself. She wanted to include outfits that were both professional and casual, as those both sum up who she is.
A branding photographer should always encourage you to be yourself in photos while also keeping in mind the business and social media image your want to put forth. These sessions include professional head shots, but also provide you with a gallery to pull from for your social media for months on end. For those that need a big social media presence, like Glenneth, this archival of images is invaluable. If you more into style and fashion on Instagram or are a mom blogger, etc., this gallery will look different for you.
My goals when photographing this session were to capture Glenneth's natural smile and upbeat energy while also giving her some images of her at work. She is turning fifty in a couple months so we wanted to capture some fun with the number 50 balloons to help her celebrate! Scroll down to see some examples from Glenneth's branding photography session.
Kerrie and Jay Griffin were married on October 19, 2019 at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN. It was my first time photographing a wedding at the aquarium, and it definitely made for some neat photos as you will see below! Before heading to the aquarium for their ceremony and reception, the couple and wedding parties got ready at an AirBnb five minutes away. Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain the entire day, and the yard of the rental was completely muddy so it was a no go for photos outside. Luckily, the house had some amazing natural light so we were able to capture some really beautiful portraits inside.
Both the ceremony and reception were truly moving. Not only was I able to observe the deep love between the new husband and wife, but I saw how much all their friends and family adore them. The groom was brought to tears reading his vows to his new bride. Everyone was wiping tears away watching the groom and his mother's first dance to "Mama" by Boyz 2 Men. The toasts by the matron of honor and the best man were full of emotion and an admiration for the couple that all the guests agreed upon.
I feel so blessed to have been able to witness and capture Jay and Kerrie's big day. To see a sneak peek of their wedding photos keep scrolling down.
Whenever clients choose their own location for a photoshoot I am always so excited! It allows me to better get to know them, see more of their personality and what is important to them. When Kerrie and Jay said they wanted to shoot at Jig Head Brewing Company in Cookeville, TN I was ecstatic. A brewery was not a place I had ever photographed at, but I loved the creativity!
I asked Kerrie and Jay why they chose a brewery for their engagement shoot, other than the obvious love of beer. They said their first date was at a brewery/bar, but also, breweries represent a certain constant in their life. Jay is in the Navy which means the couple has to move around often. At every new town or city they make sure to go and explore the breweries! I love that tradition, and I am so happy I was able to capture their engagement photos in a place that was special to them! I had never had a chance to photograph at Knoxville Botanical Garden before, so when Shay contacted me about wanting her maternity photos taken there I was so excited! Shay also had the idea for a milk bath maternity session, and hired a local florist, Consider the Lillies, to do the floral arrangement around the tub. In the past, I have photographed several children milk bath sessions, but I have never been asked to shoot a maternity one. New location and new creative photoshoot ideas? I was in!
Unfortunately, it rained us out of shooting at Knoxville Botanical Garden not once, but twice! Luckily, we were able to go ahead and take the milk bath photos, and they are stunning! Just see for yourself below. Eventually, a couple weeks later, the weather finally cleared up and I was able to photograph Shay and her husband at the garden as well. All of the photos turned out beautifully! Keep scrolling to see my favorites from the session! Comment and let me know which photo is your favorite!
Last night at 4:15 pm Tiffany gave birth to a beautiful little girl in Knoxville, TN. This was Tiffany's fourth time birthing a child, but her first time not in a hospital. Instead of a maternity ward, she opted to give birth in her bathtub at home. Let me tell you, for a first time home birther, she rocked it!
The midwives from Roots & Wings of course helped prepare Tiffany for her at home birth, but I don't think even they were prepared for what a rockstar Tiffany would be. Tiffany called me at 1 saying she thought her water broke, and by 3 I was at her home. She spoke in between contractions as if everything was fine, barely groaning at what pain she seemed to face. I was thinking the birth would take a while, but after forty minutes Tiffany said she was ready to get in the tub.
It did not seem she was in the tub but ten minutes when she started what seemed like one rough contraction. Out of nowhere she gave a hard push and said, "I feel baby's head!" One more push and she pulled her own daughter out of the water with barely any assistance from the midwives. You would've definitely not thought this was Tiffany's first time giving birth at home!
Tiffany and her husband had waited to find out the gender of their little one until the day of birth. Already they have two sons and one daughter, and they seemed overjoyed to add another little girl to even out the siblings. The new little one was given the sweetest name of Amelia Mae.
I feel so bless to have been able to witness the birth of sweet Amelia. The strength of Tiffany will definitely inspire me in my own birth coming up in September. Scroll down to see some images from the beautiful birth.

I first met Trevor's parents when they decided to have their fall family photos taken by me. When they asked if I would take his first birthday photos I was of course, so excited! First birthday photoshoots, especially ones with a smash cake, are some of my favorites! Lauren, Trevor's mom, had the idea to do a baseball themed session so we opted to use the Farragut Baseball Fields. The baseball fields are right across from Concord Cove Park, where I also took some photos of Trevor in a snazzy outfit, pre-cake smash of course. To see some of my favorites from this first birthday session keep scrolling.
