Every year the sunflower fields bloom at the Forks of the River WMA in Knoxville, TN and make for a gorgeous photo opp location. I love taking client photos at the sunflower fields! This year I thought was an off year for the sunflowers because the fields need to rest. Little did I know there is an entire other sunflower field at the Forks of the River WMA . . . only I had to hike about 1.5 miles to get there! And MAN was it humid outside. I was so afraid I was going to be late for this session, and we would lose the light! Luckily, we arrived just on time and got some beautiful shots! Becky just moved to Knoxville about two months ago, and I am so glad she did because she and her son were the most amazing models I could hope for. I first met Trevor's parents when they decided to have their fall family photos taken by me. When they asked if I would take his first birthday photos I was of course, so excited! First birthday photoshoots, especially ones with a smash cake, are some of my favorites! Lauren, Trevor's mom, had the idea to do a baseball themed session so we opted to use the Farragut Baseball Fields. The baseball fields are right across from Concord Cove Park, where I also took some photos of Trevor in a snazzy outfit, pre-cake smash of course. One year ago I started my business as a photographer in Knoxville, TN. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to photograph so many amazing clients this year. From maternity sessions to births, weddings and engagements, and a ton of family sessions, I met so many lovely people this year and even made some really good friends. I can only hope that 2019 brings as many wonderful people into my life, and I can stay just as busy, if not more, as a photographer!
This year I discovered my photography style and really honed into how I like edit sessions. I appreciate so many of my clients sticking with me through this season of growth and learning. Below I have shared some of my favorite photos from 2018! Comment and let me know what your favorites are!

When Courtney reached out wanting photos for her son's six month birthday, I couldn't resist! Courtney and I actually went to high school together, and it's so crazy to see us both as moms now! Rylan, her six month old, is absolutely adorable! Seriously, this kid was so great at posing! He is one photogenic kid, and I cannot wait to keep photographing this family for years to come! We shot these photos in Fountain City Park in the afternoon, which made for perfect lighting. Read more about what Courtney had to say about her experience shooting with me below.
"We recently used Tara for our little boy's 6 month photos. She is so fun to work with, and good at what she does. She knows how to be quick and efficient while working with babies. Which anyone who has a baby, knows it's hard to do. We were so impressed with her skills and our photos. We will for sure be using her again in the future." - Courtney V.
When this cutie's mom contacted me about first birthday photos I was so excited! I love children's photography, of course, but I really enjoy capturing a kid just smashing into a birthday cake! I mean, c'mon, even a grown up would be happy tearing into a cake like that!
He was having a nascar/race themed birthday party so we wanted to incorporate that into some of the photos as well. His dad had this tire that belonged to some famous nascar driver so we used that in some photos! (How cool, right?) It definitely gave a unique feel to this first birthday photo shoot.
