I had never had a chance to photograph at Knoxville Botanical Garden before, so when Shay contacted me about wanting her maternity photos taken there I was so excited! Shay also had the idea for a milk bath maternity session, and hired a local florist, Consider the Lillies, to do the floral arrangement around the tub. In the past, I have photographed several children milk bath sessions, but I have never been asked to shoot a maternity one. New location and new creative photoshoot ideas? I was in!
Unfortunately, it rained us out of shooting at Knoxville Botanical Garden not once, but twice! Luckily, we were able to go ahead and take the milk bath photos, and they are stunning! Just see for yourself below. Eventually, a couple weeks later, the weather finally cleared up and I was able to photograph Shay and her husband at the garden as well. All of the photos turned out beautifully! Keep scrolling to see my favorites from the session! Comment and let me know which photo is your favorite!

Last night at 4:15 pm Tiffany gave birth to a beautiful little girl in Knoxville, TN. This was Tiffany's fourth time birthing a child, but her first time not in a hospital. Instead of a maternity ward, she opted to give birth in her bathtub at home. Let me tell you, for a first time home birther, she rocked it! The midwives from Roots & Wings of course helped prepare Tiffany for her at home birth, but I don't think even they were prepared for what a rockstar Tiffany would be. Tiffany called me at 1 saying she thought her water broke, and by 3 I was at her home. She spoke in between contractions as if everything was fine, barely groaning at what pain she seemed to face. I was thinking the birth would take a while, but after forty minutes Tiffany said she was ready to get in the tub. It did not seem she was in the tub but ten minutes when she started what seemed like one rough contraction. Out of nowhere she gave a hard push and said, "I feel baby's head!" One more push and she pulled her own daughter out of the water with barely any assistance from the midwives. You would've definitely not thought this was Tiffany's first time giving birth at home! Tiffany and her husband had waited to find out the gender of their little one until the day of birth. Already they have two sons and one daughter, and they seemed overjoyed to add another little girl to even out the siblings. The new little one was given the sweetest name of Amelia Mae. I feel so bless to have been able to witness the birth of sweet Amelia. The strength of Tiffany will definitely inspire me in my own birth coming up in September.
